The Crying

I know I've mentioned it before, each time I have a newborn. I really hate hearing them cry. It bothers me to no end. The only solace is the thought that this will be the last.

You hate hearing them cry because it annoys you, or because you don't like them being uncomfortable or whatever is causing them to cry? You are a weird dude. And last one?!?!? What if the Lord has other plans for you? ;)

The crying itself is horrible - it makes me uncomfortable. The kid cries for petty reasons that make him think he's going to die - the older ones do too. "oooooh no, I can't find my care bear! My life is ending!!" So no, I'm not as concerned for their comfort in this situation.

If the Lord has other plans for me, they'll probably have to include an additional surgery.

When you were just about 18 months old, Uncle Tom commented that our kids were always crying. He had one child. I thought about it and realized that none of you ever cried excessively, it was just that one of you was always needing something, had a boo-boo, lost a toy, etc. This is the time you need patience the most. A few more years and it will subside into just whining, then begging, then they leave. Then they come back with little ones and it starts all over again! Then they leave and you miss them, so you go visit them....

What a weinie. Crying is nothing, it's when they SCREAM that high-pitched scream-cry that I get irritated. But mine never SCREAMED like that so I lucked out. Pretty soon they will be teenagers and instead of crying or whining or vocally communicating with you they will just send you a text when they're upset. In the meantime you can send baby Bob to Texas when he cries and Sara will gladly take care of him.

Hey Johnner D.- Don't use that kind of language when you are writing/talking/or communicating about my brother okay? He's a good guy and I love him to bits.

Matt, I understand about the crying. You are thinking out loud - which always lets us know where you stand =). Gabe was telling me about an article he read shortly after Sean was born. It said that research indicates that men, very much more than women, cannot tolerate the sound of crying. They respond quicker to the cry and try to make the baby quiet more than the mom. You are not alone =).
