Signs of the times?

With the earthquake in China, one has to wonder if the Lord is coming soon. But then with Clinton losing her lead in election, we might still have a few more years.

I often have the same thought lately. I think maybe things are ramping up, but they need to get worse, much worse. And if it happens gradually it could be generations before the end times. Either way, beef up your food storage! That's what we're going to do with our Economic Stimulus.

oops. I accidently commented under biffy. Sumo girl Steers: Beef up your fodd storage is good. Beefing may require a freezer to keep it from being a rotting, decaying chinathing.

Maybe I'm just a dumb heathen, but I don't understand the 'Lord coming soon' because of natural disasters mindset. And if he is coming, wouldn't beefing up your food storage be going against whatever it is he would be trying to do?

I think the idea is that it's going to get worse before it gets better. And when the Lord comes, don't you think he would enjoy something to eat?

Prophets of old had visions from God about the last days. We know we are in the last days because of the signs that the prophets were commanded to give us. In Doctrine and Covenants 88:88-90 (http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/88) is a perfect example of the given sign of the big storms and earthquakes that plague the earth today. But God hasn't forgotten his faithful people. He loves us and warns us of trouble ahead. Through his prophets He has counselled us to build a storage of food and supplies. Having food storage is one way of sustaining life after a major disaster or if you lose your job or if the economy suddenly crashes or any number of other calamities. There is no way to thwart the Lord's will by being prepared. He gives us adversity to teach and humble us in hopes that we choose to turn to him. His intention isn't to do us harm for the entertainment. If we listen to the counsel then we avoid unnecessary pitfalls. When we don't listen, we aren't humble and have a lesson to learn.

Well enough said S. Thundering and lightening, and the voice of the seas heaving themselves beyond their bounds. You should have seen the look on a friends face when I made a valid argument for global warming from the scriptures. As for Hillary, she might still buy off the right people and figure out a way to get Michigan and Florida seated. That would give her the popular vote and likely the super delegates needed. Like Rocky said, "aint nothin over till it's over." Maybe I'll use my vote for President to write in ....... any one NOT NAMED McCain, Clinton, or Obama..... I'm just sayin...
