I can't figure out how to change the background so I apologize for straining your eyes.
The more I listen to the presidential debates, the more I'm convinced I should vote for Obama. I am not a fan of all I hear about him. But the main issues I see a difference on is economics. Obama seems seriously interested in helping the American economy and I haven't really heard anyone come up with a good argument against that. McCain isn't bias against the wealthy...just like Bush. Also Bush has spent 4 of the 10 trillion of our national debt. What makes me think that McCain is going to change when he votes the same as Bush 90+ % of the time?
For this reason I endorse Obama. I hope for a country that can be financially responsible in the near future, I'm through with "conservative republicans" that spend money like it was mine and not ours.

Wow.. This is really hard to read. Reminds me of a middle-school kids' myspace page. How very web 2.0 of you Mattamaticus.
Here are my comments on your Obama post. What does '...isn't bias against the wealthy...just like Bush' mean? Do you think it's right to tax the rich (whatever that means) at a higher rate than others? This would only punish them for making more money (including businesses) and would discourage growth.
And what is this whole "votes the same as bush 90% of the time". The president doesn't get a vote, he just passes or vetos bills that come up through congress. That Obama stance is kind of misleading. Check out this article

I somewhat agree with you, Matt. I think Obama is interested in helping the American Economy. But does that mean he could run the country? Health care is and will be a big part of what people are looking for now. I don't think we can blame Bush for the huge downfall of the Economy as of late. No one person could do that. But, that downfall started when the economy was somewhat in stable shape, with unemployment rate relatively low. Now, the big problem were lenders who started lending to people to buy homes they could not afford to begin with. Subprime lending didn't come from Bush. Now I don't agree with everything Bush has done, during his term and I think David Letterman said it the best:
David Letterman actually wrote this. Hits the nail on the head.

Sorry for taking up such a big area here.
The political rants are out in full force and I am so done with hearing it all. Though I will say my hubby did make a few good points during his rant.

As usual, we just have to pick the lesser of the two evils. So which of the two is more "evil"? That's the great debate.
I love the text about the spoiled brats of America. It really stops and causes you to take a step back from all of the media brainwashing and think about how fortunate we truly are as a nation.
Unfortunatley David Letterman did not write this. Nore did Jay Leno, who is also often mistakenly stated to be the author.
Apart from uttering the words that went on to inspire the final paragraph of this text, Tonight Show host, Jay Leno had nothing whatsoever to do with its authorship. The original was written by columnist Craig R. Smith and published on WorldNetDaily.com in November 2006 under the title "Made in the U.S.A.: Spoiled Brats."

Regardless of the authorship, I do so love it's meaning. Thank you for posting it.
I'm not worried about the rich in our country. No, I don't think we can rely on them to give back to the poor with a fat tax break. No, I don't blame Bush for the current economic crisis (completely), I think the culture of America is to blame. Our addiction to cheap loans is a horrible business model.
I agree with you Matt. Obama has a much stronger economic package. McCain deserves a lot of respect but, he is too out of touch with everyday America.
I think fundamental causes are: 1) fractional reserve banking ; 2) human natue/greed; and 3) markets w/ no transparency (free markets must be open so prices can be fair).
The fractional reserve part = the FED, and that is not Clinton or Bush. The FED certainly leans strongly republican. The FED is a bank. It is working for the bankers.
The lack of transparency can be blamed on both Bush and Clinton. Bush has more weight to carry though especially since this could have been averted several years ago if the administration had acted. This bubble was easy to see, and they should have acted to shine light into the hidden derivative markets.
I am not a fan of either candidate. Financially, Obama's main offering is a less aggressive military posture, but it is hard to tell if this will pan out as described.
What we need now is to reach out and work together- to be neighborly and be local. Obama is more inspiring this way than McCain, but my sense is that we the people are pretty angry at Washington and that it doesn't much matter.

Who's the "conservative republican?" I wasn't aware that we had one on either ticket, or in the white house. I really don't see how it's possible to go from Ron Paul to Barak Obama either. Where do you get the idea that he'll be fiscally conservative or fiscally responsible? His proposed spending will put the nation further in debt. I don't like McCain, but I don't like a democratic whitehouse, house, and senate even more. I realize most of the family isn't as conservative as I am, which is why I don't have a candidate in the election, but id the Dems pull the trifecta and gain supermajority status, we're in for some troubled times. That's just my opinion.
One last point. They're both multi millionaires, so the idea that either knows what's "every day Americans" struggles are is political propaganda. The idea of taxing the so called wealthy because it's their patriotic duty disgusts me too. Obama's tax plan will stifle small business, which will have a crippling effect on the national economy. For the sake of fairness, we haven't decided who we're voting for, though it will not be Obama. We may go third party, because while I believe John McCain will be "safer" than Obama, I have never liked, nor trusted McCain. It's our faults, we as a nation gave ourselves the worst two candidates I could imagine. I call for a third Independent party... A final note on Obama, I'm really concerned about our international relations under Obama. I've spoken with my International Relations Professor, who has a PhD in IR, and the effects of our pull out in Iraq, and growing tensions with Iran and Russia make for a very bad time to go weak on military. Barney Frank has already called for a 25% cut to the military. Crazy dangerous, we're at war. Wonder why Iran, and other friendly states and non state actors are calling for an Obama presidency... Just my opinion.
